FAQs

What is the Chorister Experience?

The Chorister Experience is a special day of fun and singing in one of the world's most amazing buildings. You'll have a chance to enjoy musical fun and games, lots of activities, and the best bit of all: singing Evensong with the Cathedral Choir under the famous Octagon Tower.

Who is it for?

Boys in school years 2 and 3.

What does a Chorister do?

Ely Cathedral is very proud of its choir which has existed for hundreds of years. Choristers sing in the choir, performing almost every day in the beautiful Cathedral. As well as this, they go on tours to sing in other countries, give exciting concerts and make recordings, and appear on TV, radio and online.

Do I already need to be in a choir to take part?

No - the important thing is that you love singing, and are ready to try out a fun new experience.

Why is the Chorister Experience just for boys?

Girls sing at Ely Cathedral too, but they are several years older than the boys in the choir and so there is a different event for them later in the year.
