FAQs

What is the Chorister Experience?

The Chorister Experience is a special afternoon of fun and singing in one of the world's most amazing buildings. You'll have a chance to enjoy musical fun and games, activities, and the best bit of all: joining the Cathedral Choir at Evensong under the famous Octagon Tower.

Who is it for?

Boys in school years 2 and 3.

What does a Chorister do?

Ely Cathedral is very proud of its choir which has existed for hundreds of years. Choristers sing in the choir, performing almost every day in the beautiful Cathedral. As well as this, they go on tours to sing in other countries, give exciting concerts and make recordings, and appear on TV, radio and online.

Do I already need to be in a choir to take part?

No - the important thing is that you love singing, and are ready to try out a fun new experience.

Why is the Chorister Experience just for boys?

Girls sing at Ely Cathedral too, but they are several years older than the boys in the choir and so there is a different event for them later in the year.

Is the event COVID-safe?

The Chorister Experience is fully COVID risk assessed and complies with all applicable Government and Church of England guidelines. Participants will be invited to attend in family bubbles to maintain distancing in the Cathedral.
